According to the most recent information provided by famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Sony will take over as the sole provider of LiDAR Scanner components for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max from Lumentum and WIN Semi.

Kuo claimed in a series of tweets today that Sony's time-of-flight VCSEL uses less energy than those from Apple's current suppliers.
According to Kuo, this would make the LiDAR Scanner on the iPhone 15 Pro models more power-efficient, which may either result in a longer battery life or allow the LiDAR Scanner to provide better performance at the same level of power consumption.
